The Stevens Motel was built in the early 50's or before. They were operated by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Bihlmire. In 1957, Ted Franks took over. This motel was interesting in that it was a series of cabins laid out in a geometric pattern of sorts. Very "Mid-Mod". The location is described as being near Three Oaks, Sawyer and Harbert. It was also described as being near Warren Dunes State Park.
This is all true to one degree or another but it makes finding old locations tough. Folks back then didn't believe in publishing street addresses much. it's amazing really. Little did they know they'd be causing me to waste thousands of hours in the future, trying to find these old places LOL. As of 2023, Harbor Country Cabins is occupying the site, but most of the original structures are gone.
