The Mt. Zion goes back to the early 1950's and was established by R. E. Chenoweth. It was expanded in 1958. The lot originally had tourist cabins on it until a traditional motel structure was added. By the 1990's the old motel was razed. As of 2023, a Quality Inn sits on the lot.
