Here are the pictures of the Hiawatha DIT that I found in a 1988 book on Chassell MI, that I found at the Portage Lake District Library in Houghton, MI. The aerial shot is from "the 1980s." It is interesting to note that after the DIT closed the entrance road to 41 was altered back to where the street on the left is. The railroad tracks have also since been removed. The marquee shot was taken in March 1958. The Hiawatha opened on June 13, 1952. It might have closed on September 8, 1986, but I dont have access to the Houghton Daily Mining Gazette film for 1987. No ads appeared in 1988.

The Hiawatha Drive-In opened on June 13, 1952. This drive-in had one screen and a capacity for 400 cars. The last owner was Charles Gazvoda who operated the drive-in from 1976 until its closing in September of 1986.
