Update 8/31/2024 from Jeff Lloyd: Rotunda Inn was built by George S. Hodges, who resided at 3120 Pine Lake Rd a few lots down. George was also responsible for using his land for the Pine Lake Country Club and building the initial clubhouse ca. 1905 for the Detroit Automobile Club (which later became PLCC). The Rotunda Inn became the first Charlie's Crab restaurant, and after a fire destroyed it, many other Charlie's Crab locations appeared in subsequent years. The lot still exists, as well as George's 3120 location.
